Building Schools for Vietnamese Ethnic Children

Helsinki, Finland
01 April - 31 July 2017

About VCEA

Vietnamese Cultural Exchange Association (VCEA), an organisation which will aim to promote Vietnamese culture in Finland, organise multicultural exchange activities and charitable events that will benefit Vietnamese people living in Vietnam and overseas.

The VCEA is preceded by (and is an evolution of) Vietcharm Dancers, an organization that has performed a variety of Vietnamese dance in many cultural events in Finland. Based on the previous success of Vietcharm together with the creativity & enthusiasm of all international members, we believe that the VCEA can host a wider range of enjoyable and beneficial events for those who have supported in the past, and those who are yet to attend our events.

The association's purpose is to:

  • Creating a creative and comfortable environment where individuals can participate in the events and to learn more about the Vietnamese people, cuisine, culture, and especially performance art.

  • Promoting and advertising Vietnamese culture in Finnish society and to promote the hobby arts (dancing and acting), as well as art enthusiasts gather for joint action.

  • Connecting Vietnamese students, alumni and Vietnamese residing in Finland with each other and with ( Finnish & international) resident in Finland, as well as citizens of other countries, and therefore share the culture.

  • Support and help Vietnamese students living in Finland to blend in Finnish society faster and easier, as well as to promote their well-being.

“Building Schools for Vietnamese Ethnic Children” project is a part of a bigger fundraising program organized by the Education and Training Committee Division of Tuan Giao district Dien Bien province, Volunteer for Education & Duhocsinh TV organization in Vietnam. It started running in 2016 & has helped rebuild a Huot Lot school (attached to An Binh Kindergarten Center School).

This year, VCEA joins hands to raise fund in Finland with a goal of rebuilding Pu Pien school (attached to Nam Muc Primary Center School).

Pu Pien school is located in Pu Pien villages, Muong Mun commune, Tuan Giao District, Dien Bien province (425km from Hanoi capital city ). Locals are 100% ethnic people with low literacy levels, porvety living condition and earn their living mainly by agriculture. Access is difficult due to the hilly terrain and roads being mainly soil which turn to mud in rainy season. Many places are lack of electricity, clean water and good conditioned facilities. The school has no canteen, playground & toilets. The only temporary classroom is in very poor condition & made of simple wood construction for both students studying grade 1 & 2.

Your kind support and participation will make our project of Building School for Vietnamese Ethnic Children a success. Together we can bring education to poor children today and a better life for their future. Thank you very much for your attention and your help is highly appreciated!
